Where To See a Flamenco Show in Sevilla

Sevilla, Home of Flamenco

Sevilla is another one of those places that Patrick and I wish we would have stayed longer in. It is saturated in Spanish culture and quite amazing to explore. We got there using Blabla Car. Blabla Car became one of our favorite modes of transportation because it’s typically faster than train or bus and you can learn so much more about the surrounding areas from your driver. I highly recommend this. All you have to do is download the app and make your Blabla Car profile.

Travel tip: Use BlaBlaCar.

It’s like long distance uber

except more like getting a ride

from a friend to ease travel

expenses. Just download the

app and you are good to go!

We were in Sevilla in December and on our meanderings towards a flamenco show, we walked along a beautiful river with beautiful lit up bridges. Adorning the streets are amazing Christmas lights and decorations all over the place. We enjoyed seeing that and feeling the Christmas spirit with the Spaniards and other travelers.

Our big outing in Sevilla was going to a Flamenco show. We went to La Casa Del Flamanco (Click Link for more information) for our show. You’ll want to buy tickets in advance because we tried just a couple hours before and got put on the standby list. Luckily that list was short and some people didn’t show up so we got to go see a show.

The Flamenco show was amazing. It is a very loud and very passionate dance. They keep the crowd smallish so that everyone gets a pretty clear view of the stage. It’s amazing how they have it all organized. They ask that you don’t use cameras or anything during the performance but they do leave a little time at the end for pictures.

After the show Patrick and I slowly made our way back to the AirBnB making the appropriate stops at various tapas bars; eating our dinner like true Spaniards. We would stop at one tapas bar and each pick out a tapa, then walk over to another and do the same. All the way until we made it back to the AirBnB. It’s such a fun way to eat dinner. Standing at a bar and ordering a tapa is simply fun.

The next day we woke up and walked about an hour to go to Church at La Iglesia de JesuCristo de los Santos de los Ultimos Dias, shared a good talk with some of the members there and then made our way back to town to tourist around some more. One thing I love about Spain is the walkability of the cities, sometimes the walks can seem far and distant but usually they are just fun because you can see all the nooks and crannies of the area.

We needed to buy tickets to Tarifa and ended up walking to the wrong bus station. This was a blessed mistake because as we walked farther we ended up finding ourselves in la Plaza del Espana. It was like walking in a whole new world! No joke. the Plaza was massive with carriages, a donkey, a river with row boats and a beautiful building that has an amazing bridge, and all sorts of neat mosaics. As we were pretty tired we didn’t last too long there. We figured out when and where to be for the bus departure (we couldn’t find a BlaBlaCar to Tarifa). That night we had another romantic dinner of noodles and fell asleep.

The next morning we woke up early, took a city bus to the bus station and loaded up for our journey to the southern most tip of Spain; Tarifa.
